Cynthia Johnston Torres (1911-2001) was a successful businesswoman, an educator, and one of Guam’s first female senators of the Guam Legislature after the passage of the Organic Act of 1950. She helped establish the island’s first school for individuals with special needs, known as The New Brodie Memorial School for Handicapped Children, and was its first principal.
