Laura Maud Thompson (1905-2000), a distinguished sociocultural anthropologist, is best known for her comprehensive studies of the CHamoru people of Guam. She was also an advocate in Washington, DC, for the autonomy of CHamorus during the colonial administration of the island under the US Navy.
