DESCRIPTION

Part of Guampedia's Women in Guam History commemorative poster series. All posters in this series consist of an image of the individual being recognized, along with a brief biography with notable accomplishments. Poster design by Odyessa San Nicolas.

Rosa Aguigui Reyes (1915-2007) is distinguished as the first woman elected to the Guam Congress in 1946. Her election made her a pioneer in Guam’s political scene and opened the door for other women to become engaged in positions of political leadership. She was an educator for 42 years, and was the primary female CHamoru researcher for American anthropologist Laura Thompson during the 1930s.
